Proposal:
This response is in relation to the first public consultation of the Cowley Branch Line.
Our Response:
Oxford Preservation Trust (OPT) welcomes the opportunity to view the most recent consultation information on the proposals for the Cowley Branch Line Project.
OPT fully support the revival of the Cowley Branch Line in principle and recognise the project’s potential ability to greatly improve connections from Cowley and Littlemore.
OPT would, however, like to see a greater focus placed on connections from further afield than Cowley and Littlemore, and the realisation of the full potential of this project in its ability to serve a far wider catchment area. OPT believe that emphasising this aspect of the project, and the benefits which this would bring, would greatly improve public interest in the regeneration of the Branch Line, and should be considered through the design of the scheme.
Though the Trust does support the project in principle, it is believed that the success of the Cowley Branch Line will hinge significantly on the frequency of its service. OPT believe that an increased service frequency will contribute significantly to the line’s success, but are aware of feasibility concerns, and would be greatly interested in following the council’s projected figures of the lines use.
