Volunteer with Oxford Preservation Trust and play a vital role in looking after some of Oxford's most special places. Whether you want to help maintain our green spaces or welcome visitors during Oxford Open Doors, there is something for everyone. We are very grateful to everyone who gives their time to help protect what makes Oxford special.
"Volunteering for Oxford Open Doors was a brilliant experience. I really enjoyed working with the OPT Team & seeing the huge effort that they, the venues & volunteers put in to deliver this amazing event for Oxford - I have already signed up for next year!"
Volunteer on our Green Spaces
Come and join our friendly teams to carry out practical land management tasks on OPT’s nature reserves. All levels of experience are welcome. The tasks we do are based on what's needed in the space at that time of year. Instructions and equipment is provided. Our regular work parties are at Wolvercote Lakes (first Friday of every month), Heyford Meadows (third Friday of every month) and Larkins Lane Field (4th Friday of every month). In February 2024, we started up a monthly work party at the Rewley Road Swing Bridge. We also have work parties on other OPT sites including Kennington Memorial Field, Iffley and various locations on Boars Hill, in partnership with the Abingdon Green Gym, Oxford Conservation Volunteers and the Oxford Good Gym.
Volunteer at Oxford Open Doors
Do you want to explore Oxford’s hidden treasures and explore behind closed doors? Join our friendly team of volunteers who help us run Oxford Open Doors!
This is a great opportunity to get involved with Oxford’s exciting heritage and get behind the city's closed doors to help our visitors discover its secrets and treasures, all while enjoying a lovely weekend. Roles range from acting as stewards at venues, to bucket shaking, to giving information to visitors. You can spend a morning, an afternoon or the whole weekend in interesting, historic and scenic buildings and outside spaces – with no prior knowledge needed.
