Celebrating the best in conservation and new design
We champion the best in conservation and new design through our annual OPT Awards scheme, which was established in 1977. Every year we consider projects of every size and type from across our city. We celebrate those which make a significant contribution to Oxford’s character, streets, green spaces and communities.
We are always on the lookout for great projects - entries for the 2025 Awards will open on Monday 10 March. Contact Louise l.lockyer@oxfordpreservation.org.uk for more information.
OPT Awards 2024
In 2024 we celebrated another fantastic year of projects that contribute to Oxford's rich heritage and unique setting. Over three days in the summer, we had the pleasure of visiting 43 wide-ranging entries, reflecting the creativity and commitment of those working to enhance our city.
Six projects were awarded plaques, with sixteen worthy runners-up. It was particularly encouraging to see a significant number of refurbished buildings, highlighting the growing commitment to preserving Oxford’s historic fabric. Refurbishment and adaptive reuse should always be the preference to demolition, which is a major source of carbon emission. The sustainability credentials of this year's entries were stronger than ever, showcasing innovative approaches to conservation, energy efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
We look forward to seeing even more inspiring projects in 2025.
