Gifts in Wills
Do you care about our green spaces, our planning work, our conservation projects or our public programmes, including Oxford Open Doors? Remembering Oxford Preservation Trust in your will supports the essential work we do and helps us to look after the places you love for generations to come. Every gift in every will makes a difference to Oxford’s future.
Gifts in Wills in action
Oxford Preservation Trust was able to acquire Heyford Meadow through a generous gift. The land had been neglected for many years and used in part as a scrap yard, and so was severely degraded. We wanted to turn this old scrap yard into a wildlife-friendly, publicly accessible amenity for the local community. We removed over 250 tonnes of waste from the site, including tractors, rail wagons and six boats. We installed a boardwalk (allowing access in the wetter areas of the meadow all year round), a scrape with willow screen to view wildlife without disturbance, ponds, a viewing platform and two benches. Now the rare fritillaries bloom alongside the boardwalk and people from all over Oxford can enjoy this very special place.
My interest in OPT comes from being keen on architecture and historic places and having spent the greater part of my adult life living and working in and around Oxford. I greatly enjoy walking around the city and area around it. OPT seems the group that does most to look after the old and promote good newbuilding. Without OPT the city would look very different. I have also enjoyed the benefits of membership and supporting - news, talks and tours and access to hidden places. Finally there is an advantage of believing relatively modest help can make a difference to a lively small organisation that is working for the people of the place where I live.
Let us know
After taking care of those closest to you, a gift in your will can be tax-efficient. Every gift, however large or small, makes a significant difference to the Oxford we all love. If you have kindly left a gift in your will and would like to tell us about it, we would love to hear from you.
