FULLY BOOKED - Tudor and Stuart England at the Ashmolean Museum with Dr Elizabeth Sandis
Join us for an exclusive OPT members' tour of the Ashmolean Museum with Dr. Elizabeth Sandis, as she guides us through the museum's Tudor and Stuart treasures.
We will explore a wide range of objects including painting, embroidery, shoes, coins, and novelty tableware. We will consider each piece in the context of sixteenth- and seventeenth-century life, reflecting on some of the key differences between England during this period and England as it is today.
Dr. Elizabeth Sandis completed her PhD at the University of Oxford and her Leverhulme Postdoctoral Fellowship at The Shakespeare Institute, focusing her research on Tudor and Stuart drama. She now works in the Ashmolean Museum's Education Department and is author of Early Modern Drama at the Universities, published by Oxford University Press. In 2025, she will be giving the toast to the Bard at our annual Shakespeare Birthday Parade on 23rd April.
This tour is part of our wider programme of Shakespearean events during his birthday month in April.
