Green Space Volunteering with Abingdon Green Gym
Venue: Matthew Arnold Field
Abingdon Green Gym (AGG) will lead this weekend task and they welcome any extra pairs of hands.
Matthew Arnold Field & Reserve in Boars Hill is a mixed woodland, grassland, and wetland site, named after the poet, and cultural critic Matthew Arnold. The AGG task will focus on helping us make the field stockproof by clearing along the fence line to help us replace the fence. They will also tackle blackthorn suckers to help control the hedge and stop it spreading onto the field.
Meet at 9:30am: The access to the field is off Jarn Way, map link.
Ways to get there: Free on street parking on Jarn Way. By bus, take the X1 or X15 from Oxford Centre to the top of Hinksey Hill, c. 40 minute walk from there. Or 44 bus to The Bystander pub in Wootton, followed by a c.30 minute walk. Bikes can be secured to the field gate.
Please bring your own gardening gloves, hydrating drink (hot & cold), a snack and sturdy shoes/boots/wellies, suitable weather-related layers.
No experience necessary. Tools will be provided. Nearest toilets are at local pubs.
