Revd Prof William Whyte Appointed Honorary Canon of Christ Church Cathedral
We are delighted to announce that our Chair of Trustees, Revd Prof William Whyte, has been recognised for his outstanding service to the Diocese of Oxford through his appointment as an Honorary Canon of Christ Church Cathedral.
Honorary Canons play a vital role within the Cathedral's College of Canons, offering their experience and wisdom to support the Cathedral's mission and work. William’s appointment highlights his outstanding contributions to both the church and wider community. In addition to serving as Chair of OPT, he also chairs the Oxford Historical Society and the Victoria County History of Oxfordshire project and is a longstanding associate minister in Wolvercote and Wytham.
In response to his appointment as Canon, William shared: “I was both delighted and embarrassed to hear the news. I was delighted because it is a really lovely thing and it is tremendous to think I will be more involved in the life of the cathedral. I do feel embarrassed, though, because I do not do nearly as much as so many other people who have not been recognised in this way.”
We extend our warmest congratulations to William on this well-deserved honour.
