Gothic Eyecatcher Temple at Shotover House

A special evening at Shotover House for OPT Patrons

Last week we hosted an evening for our Patrons at Shotover House, a Grade 1 listed country house and park on the outskirts of Oxford.  We enjoyed drinks on the terrace and admired the beautiful view over the lake to the Gothic Eyecatcher Temple which won an OPT Award in 2016 for repairs to its roof, elevations, replacement of the vaulted ceiling and redecoration of the main facade.  Designed in the early 1720s for General James Tyrrell as a garden temple, it is thought to be the first Gothic-styled garden building in the 18th Century.
