Oxford Preservation Trust is thrilled to announce the return of Unversed... performed by Beckis Cooper, written and directed by Rachel Fowler. This captivating performance was commissioned for the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s First Folio and has already wowed audiences at Keats House, Doctor Johnson’s House, and John Clare Cottage. Back by popular demand, the atmospheric Painted Room will once again play backdrop next April.
Step into the world of Antonia, an ambitious young actor in 17th-century London, as she discovers a newly printed copy of Shakespeare’s First Folio. In a world where women are forbidden from gracing the stage, Antonia dares to rehearse Shakespeare’s female characters, finding her voice and grappling with her role both onstage and in society.
