We're restoring the Walton Well Drinking Fountain

We're excited to announce that we're restoring the Walton Well Drinking Fountain in Jericho.

Located at the junction between Walton Well and Southmoor Roads, the fountain was erected in 1885 by William Ward, a former Mayor of Oxford, on the site of a natural spring. No longer a working fountain, in recent years the structure has decayed and is now in urgent need of restoration.

Last October, we launched a fundraising campaign to support the project. Thanks to the overwhelming support of the local community and gifts from generous donors, including the Lord Lieutenant, Lucy Group Ltd, Oxfordshire Buildings Trust, the CPRE Oxfordshire Buildings Preservation Trust and local Councillors James Fry and Louise Upton, we have secured enough funding to begin the first phase of works.

Beginning this summer, the works will include repairing the stone fountain and replacing its lost stone finial. We will also reinstate a safe drinking water supply and install a bench and an interpretation panel.
